wha

The problem I have (written that too many times now) with this image is that although you have put admirable effort into the detail and texture of the drawing (especially the hair), the actual underlying basic line-art doesn't seem to quite sit right in my mind - for example, the jawline to me seems to be far too wide and really very masculine, and the eye sockets and recesses seem a little oddly shaped and it makes me feel sort of confused if I look for too long.

Maybe you're bang on the money and I just have some underlying issues with the facial anatomy of Asian people, but either way my opinion stems from my interpretation, and there it is.

Thanks for the comment!

Well, it is a pretty odd angle to look at a face from, and I might have missed out a few visual cues to indicate the head's position, like shadows in some places. I think that's why it might look odd, though I'm pretty confident about the anatomy.

Can't really pinpoint what they are right now though. Looked through some reference photos online too, can't find any major differences between Asian and Caucasian jawlines, but of course, Asian eyes are much different.

A much reduced brow bone, smaller eyes, flatter faces, an epicanthic fold, and flatter, less pointed noses are some of the differences Asians have.

a better processor, fool

no artist should be restricted by either the cost or performance of his material tools, ever

CloudEater responds:

Even if they shoudn't be restricted by those things many artists often are, I'm thinking a whole new comp would be better.

don't

do that shit with the scratchy scribbly lines, it never, ever looks good - take the time to learn neat line-art, it will pay off. I don't really have anything else to say because it's just more mediocre generic anime videogame fanart with no background and uninspired posing, and if Newgrounds sees any more of that the art portal will implode into an event horizon of pink hair and deformed heads (the physical phenomenon, not the film).

CoreClock responds:

Since I'm human, I don't always have the time to make it into a line-art which I can easily do if I wanted so I went with the "scratchy scribbly lines" and plus it looks nice in a sense. I do agree, a background would give it of a boost, but my skills has their limits. I am not very good with backgrounds of any sort and it'll probably make it worst if added any with my skill. Trust me, I know you and me have seen worst in the art portal. Maybe you should be a bit more positive in your attitude, it'll probably help people become better artist so the art portal wouldn't such a bad place.
